17th Edition - March 2006

The Partner-Ring
17th Edition, March 2006

Get Well Soon Di!

We would like to wish Di Milford a speedy recovery and return to full health.  Di underwent surgery in March.  Her absence from activities has been felt by many! This unforeseen circumstance has led to the fundraising course being postponed until early May.  We will let you know as soon as the new dates have been finalised.

PARTNER UPDATES

PACSA LOP
PACSA is currently running an LOP course for 30 learners aged 18-30 years.  The brief report back to date has been very positive.  Attendance has been consistent and the learners have found the course, thus far, to be of great personal benefit and relevance.  Nonto Ndima, the course organiser, says:

“The LOP has not only helped the learners but has also helped the facilitators and me, as an organiser, in learning through other people's experiences to discover more about ourselves.  Most of the activities involve individual introspection. This is what makes the LOP differ from all the other trainings people have attended.  The LOP challenges one's listening skills, behaviour (present and past) and promotes positive living.”

PROTEC
Congratulations to PROTEC who attained their best ever Matric results with the class of 2005.  100% of their students passed and 93.6% achieved a matriculation endorsement required for admission to Universities.

Tembaletu

Tembaletu Community Education Centre is offering a 12 weeks programme for workplace communication.  The programme affords participants an opportunity to learn communicative English as a second language in

a combined structured and independent learning environment.  Please see attached flier for more information.

PROJECT UPDATES

LOP
Last Partner Ring, we announced the finalised dates for the LOP training.  We had very little response from Partners, which has raised some serious concerns.  The Learner Orientation Programme is one of the cornerstones of the Partnership and needs to be lived out as such.  We have rescheduled the course for June 2, 9, 14, 22, 23 and, due to the lack of previous Partner response, will now open this up for others to take advantage of.  WE URGE YOU to contact Suzanne at the office, either by email clulows@ukzn.ac.za or phone (Thursday 9-1) 033 2606239, with the names of participants from your organisation.
